The Center for Forensic Sciences of the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (CCF-FMUSP) for Research and Training is a center of excellence and a platform for academic cooperation, between the Department of Forensic Medicine, Medical Ethics, Social and Labor Medicine and other departments of FMUSP, as well as other units of the University of São Paulo. This academic cooperation has the strategic objective of promoting undergraduate education, postgraduate research in a broad and strict sense and the provision of services to the community in the area of forensic sciences globally.

The emergence of Forensic Sciences in our environment as a scientific way of qualifying technical evidence in the service of Justice and the truth of the facts, as well as the implementation of the so-called Humanitarian Forensic Action in the last decade, to assist victims of armed conflicts and catastrophes throughout the world, merge with the growing use of forensic sciences to protect human rights, requiring academic research, counseling and training services in the new fields of forensic practice.

Thereby, the Center for Forensic Sciences of the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (CCF-FMUSP) for research and training aims to be a national reference in this field and to act in teaching, research and provision of services to the community. The Center can assist the Government, the Judiciary and even Brazilian non-governmental organizations, specially in the State of São Paulo, offering academic perspectives based on evidence and experience, research and teaching in forensic counseling applied in the promotion and protection of Human Rights and Humanitarian Action.
