In its traditional reception ceremony to the new medical residents, the Medical Residency Commission (COREME) of the Medical School of USP received 134 enrolled doctors in 2018, who will be doing their residency in 53 medical specialties. The ceremony took place on march 1st, at the Rebouças Convention Center, in São Paulo, with the presence of the Clínicas Hospital Complex (HC-FMUSP) leaders and representatives of the medical class entities.
The Medicine Residency Program of FMUSP, which currently contemplates 1664 residents, remains open for registration until March 15th. The selective process for admission is held annually, with the norms divulged in public editorials, that can be accessed through the link:
The FMUSP director, professor Jose Otavio Costa Auler Jr, opened the ceremony welcoming the entrants and emphasizing the learning opportunities the residents will have at the Clínicas Complex. He stressed that the professional trajectory must be guided by ethics, mutual respect between peers and staff, as well as to institutional rules and, most of all, the patient.
The HC superintendent, engineer Antônio José Rodrigues Pereira, reminded all about the gigantic numbers involving care and procedures of the Clínicas, and invited the residents to participate in the inside training of the Compliance Book, which will take place on march 21st.
The clinical director of HC, professor Eloisa Silva Dutra de Oliveira Bonfá, stated that what will define the residents’ future is the doctor-patient relationship, which must be guided by respect and social responsibility. She stressed that learning is not a passive process and it is up each and every one to learn and seize, for technology and medical knowledge are rapidly changing and it is a responsibility to adapt.
Vera Hermina Kalika Koch, general coordinator of COREME, conducted the ceremony and stressed that the contribution to the citizens’ health inlay the doctors with a political and social responsibility.
