The Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), an entity that has disseminated and promoted scientific production in Brazil since 1916, released the results of the elections for full members, correspondents and affiliates, after the Ordinary General Meeting held on December 2nd. Prof. Ester Cerdeira Sabino, Associate at the Department of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases and researcher at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (IMT) of the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP), was nominated for full member in the Health Sciences category.

“I have always done applied research in institutions more dedicated to the practice, but after I entered FMUSP, my production increased a lot,'' says Profa. Esther Sabino. "Being part of the group at the Brazilian Academy of Sciences has a lot to do with this improvement in my production, largely due to the Faculdade de Medicina da USP."

Full members correspond to scientists living in Brazil for over ten years, with outstanding scientific performance. In addition to Prof. Ester, twelve more researchers were nominated for the category, in the areas of Mathematical, Physical, Chemical, Earth, Biological, Biomedical, Health, Agrarian and Social Sciences. Check out the full list:
